Semester One Reports
Student academic reports will be sent home next Monday. These reports provide an indication on your child’s progress with their learning for Terms One and Two across all Key Learning Areas. The reports also indicate their social development, commitment to learning and effort placed into their learning for this semester. I thank all the teachers for their efforts compiling these reports. If you have any questions about your child’s academic progress at any time throughout the year, please contact their teacher to arrange a meeting to discuss your concerns. All our teachers are very passionate about their role and dedicated to ensuring each and every child benefits from their teaching.
Sydney North Dance Festival
Last Thursday two of the school’s dance groups performed at the Sydney North Dance Festival. Due to Covid-19 this year’s festival was structured differently. Normally each dance group would perform in front of a live audience. This year the groups were filmed and will be viewed as a cinematic experience. Mrs Wasson and I will be attending this evening and are very much looking forward to seeing our students perform. Well done to all the students involved, Miss Steel and Miss Jones for the leadership of the dance groups and Arnold for his creative talents that ensure the students shine.
Movie Night
K-2: 4:00pm - 5:30pm
3-6: 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Area Cross Country
Last Friday four of our students, Kate H, Hannah Q, Grace K and Christian P represented our school and Beecroft Zone PSSA at the Sydney North PSSA Cross Country held at Gosford Racecourse. Making it to this carnival is a magnificent achievement and we congratulate them on making it this far. Having spoken with the students they all commented how tough it was due to the calibre of the field.
Well done and congratulations!
Demountable Refurbishment
Over the weekend 1E received a new roof and guttering and the K-2 Administration block is currently undergoing some remediation works in this area. The K-2 Office is currently located in the hall. Hopefully this is only for this week. Over the next week both buildings will be painted externally.
During the upcoming school holidays the same type of work will take place on the 3-6 site for the 5M and 5W classrooms. There will be no impact to our students due to the timing of the works.

A MESSAGE FROM THE DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
Student Lunches
All students are required to come to school with healthy food for consumption everyday or a paid lunch order. Each student should have;
- Fruit or vegetable snacks for a snack break
- Healthy recess
- Healthy lunch
- Water in a drink bottle
It is not the school or teacher’s responsibility to provide food for children in attendance, it is the responsibility of the families/carers. The Nutrition in Schools Policy states that ‘the health and wellbeing of students is relevant to their learning’. This policy contributes to the Premier’s Priority (2015) to reduce overweight and obesity rates of children by 5% over 10 years to 2025.
If you would like some ideas on building a healthy lunchbox, some inspiration, ideas and recipes, a great resource is the Cancer Council’s Healthy Lunchbox website - https://healthylunchbox.com.au
3-6 Field Events Carnival
Today saw the 3-6 students who qualified for events, compete in the Field Events Carnival held here at school. Thank you to those parents who were able to come along and support our students. The crowd did a great job at cheering everyone on! A big thank you to all of the students for being so well-behaved, to all staff on 3-6 site who ran the events and conducted duties and trials and to Mr Bryant for organising the event. Some photos below of the day. The highlight of the day was definitely the sportsmanship that was consistently demonstrated amongst the students. Everyone was cheering each other on and providing support for those that needed it. Well done Penno!
Calmsley Hill Farm Excursion – Kindergarten
Kindergarten students and teachers braved the extreme cold on Thursday to attend Calmsley Hill farm for their excursion. This was to support their Science unit called Farm to Family. They had a wonderful time by all accounts and the students absolutely loved their time there! Thank you for preparing your child for the weather, it made for a much more delightful experience.
Kind Regards
Mrs Kate Wasson

Thank you also for everyone’s feedback on the proposed Trivia Night, it seems to be a popular option and should be a great event.
Have a great week and stay warm!

The uniform shop is open for all sales and service with the following procedures put in place during Term 2:
Covid-19 Operating Protocols
The Uniform Shop is open for over-the-counter sales and service.
All parents are required to make an appointment before attending the Uniform Shop. This is to ensure that there is no overlapping of families or crowding and queuing at the shop.
All parents will be required to sign in and register at the 3-6 office before coming to the shop for their appointment. As a result of the sign in requirements, the Uniform Shop has had to adjust its operating hours and the shop will now open on Thursday mornings instead of Thursday afternoons.
To make an appointment at the Uniform Shop please use the following link: https://calendly.com/phpsuniformshop/15minutes?month=2021-02
Reversible Raincoats
Size 6 and 10 raincoats remain out of stock due to the manufacturer’s supply issues. New stock is expected to arrive at the beginning of Term 3. I apologise for any inconvenience caused by this stock outage.
Zip Jackets
Size 8, 12 and 14 of the summer zip jackets have sold out. New stock was due to arrive this month, but due to the lockdown in Fiji where the jackets are made, new stock will not arrive until the end of July. Please note that winter polar fleece jackets (all sizes) are currently in stock and available for sale.
Hours Term 3
Effective the beginning of Term 3 the Uniform Shop hours will return to opening on a Thursday afternoon from 3:00pm - 4:00pm.
Please note that all parents still require an appointment to attend the Uniform Shop. Parents will need to continue to sign in at the 3-6 office prior to attending their appointment, unless their appointment is after 3:30pm on a Thursday afternoon when the Covid sign-in will be available in the Uniform Shop.
The Uniform shop will reopen after the school holidays on the following dates:
Monday 12 July: Staff Development Day: 8:45am-10:45am
Tuesday 13 July: All Students return: 8:45am-10:45am

All the bands completed their entries for the Sydney Eisteddfod and sounded great. If you would like to take a listen, we've compiled them all into a single video which can be viewed here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvgvRq368dc
The Senior Concert Band played at the Pennant Hills High School Music Festival last week and did an awesome job. The PHHS conductors personally spoke to our conductor to say how impressed they were. Both pieces were performed to a very high standard and he was proud to be conducting.
Our apologies for the amount of time it is taking to issue term 2 fees. Our treasurer is working on this and we hope to have them out ASAP.
