A MESSAGE FROM THE DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
Around the School
Kindergarten have been busy, busy, busy. It is amazing how mature these little people are, definitely ready for Year One!
In KL they have been doing some drama, acting out scenes from Goldie Locks - an alternate version of Goldilocks and the three bears.
Arnold was back on site for a face to face dance session and KL loved it!
During mathematics, KL were playing hidden hippos to consolidate their understanding of subtraction and using transparent tile counters to measure the area of different objects. Well done KL!

3R participated in a DT/STEM lesson using the Ozobots. The task involved coding an Ozobot to leave home and travel along a path, which had ‘Gratitude’ statements, to a Gratitude party spot. Firstly the students discussed what they were grateful for in these challenging times, ie family, friends, pets, food, water and home. Then they made 3D objects to represent each of these things. Lastly they coded the Ozobot to travel along the path. The codes needed to represent each gratitude feeling, ie spinning, dancing, zigzag etc. The class had a great time problem solving and getting the Ozobot to follow the path.
Great DT/STEM work 3R!

Have you ever heard the saying “the best way to learn something is to teach it”? This week in Stage 1, some classes have been demonstrating their learning by teaching the Dashbots to move from place to place. In Geography lessons students were learning about directions and uses for places in our community. We decided to program the Dashbots to move from place to place in the community by using block coding. Once they successfully arrived at their destination, the Dashbots would then say something or even do a little dance. The students in 1/2P had a great time programming the robots to go from place to place.

Reminder notices have been distributed and many books have been returned. School library books can be easily identified by the school barcode that is on the front cover.
If a student can’t find their books the reminder notice needs to be returned with a brief message explaining that the book cannot be found.

President’s Message
Hi All
Despite the disruption over the past week, we’ve been pleased to be able to continue with some P&C activities.
Over the weekend we had 1:1 uniform shop bookings for around 30 new Kindy families who are joining the school next year. This is a really important step for the children (and their parents!) so it was great to be able to offer the appointments. A big thank you to Alison P, Tracey, Alison H, Monica and Megan who volunteered over the weekend and the rest of the Uniform Committee who helped with the preparation but couldn’t attend due to isolation requirements.
Monday night we have the long awaited Concert Night. At the time of writing I haven’t seen it yet but I’m sure it will be a great production. Thanks to Mike, Dave, Rose and all of the families who supported the bands over the past 6 months whilst they navigated the challenges of ‘Zoom’ band.
As mentioned last week, we are planning to have the December P&C meeting onsite in the hall on Tuesday 7 December. I will confirm details in next week’s newsletter, it will be great to celebrate the end of 2021!
Have a great week.

Hello again after a long Covid hiatus.
As communicated to all ensemble members via email we are still not able to rehearse together due to Covid restrictions but we are gearing up to launch Strings again in 2022.
If you were enrolled in the Strings program this year please see the email sent Wednesday 3 November for some important information.
The committee need to start gauging numbers for next year so we can plan effectively.
If you were in the Main Ensemble this year please register your interest for 2022 here
If you were in the Intro course this year and want to progress to the Junior Ensemble in 2022 please register your interest here
As Covid kiboshed our annual Introduction to Music night this year we have not been able to engage with students or parents and demonstrate the instruments so we would love some help from existing members with recruitment. If you know someone, or your child has a friend that may be interested in learning strings or joining either the Main or Junior Ensemble, please forward them these links or our email address. When it comes to ensembles, the more the merrier!
If you want to show your kids what each instrument looks and sounds like please see this video or this one
