Staffing Update
Sadly, Mrs Reid will be leaving our school at the end of this term. She has pursued employment outside the NSW Department of Education. Mrs Reid will be a great loss to our school and will be missed by all. Her contributions have been significant and for that we thank her very much.
The school has undertaken a recruitment process with the NSW Department of Education HR Department to find a permanent replacement. I can inform the community that Mrs Angela Milligan has been permanently appointed to Pennant Hills Public School and will assume the teaching responsibilities of 6R for the remainder of the year. Mrs Milligan has taught at a nearby school for many years and is very excited about joining our community. She will be meeting staff to ensure there is a handover between the teachers.
We wish Mrs Reid the very best of luck as she enters the next stage of her career, and thank her for her commitment to PHPS over the last few years.
The school is also filling the vacancies following the retirement of Mrs Geary and Mrs Maddison. Both of the processes for these positions are underway and I look forward to announcing the successful applicants at the conclusion of the process.
Industrial Action
Members of the NSW Teachers Federation at Pennant Hills Public School will be taking industrial action Thursday 30 June 2022 in the form of a 24 hour strike. The school will be providing minimal supervision of students on the day of the strike. We apologise for the disruption that this will cause.
Supervision will begin at 8:45am, as usual. Normal teaching and learning programs will not be taking place. However, students who are onsite will be supervised by teachers and provided meaningful activities throughout the day. Supervision will end at 3:15pm, as usual.
BASC will be operating on this day. If you are not intending on using their service, please ensure you mark your child absent in the My Family Lounge app.
Sydney North Dance Festival
Last Thursday the Stage 2 and 3 Dance Groups performed at the Sydney North Dance Festival. These performances were filmed and are being shown over the coming two weeks. Both groups were amazing. So much so that they have both been put forward to perform at a State Dance Festival later this year. We wait to see the outcome of that application.
All the students were amazing on Thursday. They dealt with the bus situation magnificently and performed brilliantly.
Thank you to all the parents who came to the rescue on Thursday. An amazing community we have. I am so grateful, and I know the students appreciate your efforts in supporting them.
Both Dance Groups performed on Saturday night. Mrs Wasson was able to attend the earlier performance and watch the Stage 2 group perform. I have been told that they were all magnificent again. Well done to everyone involved, parents included, for your efforts in making this such a positive experience for the children.
NAIDOC Week
The theme for NAIDOC Week 2022 is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up! A full description of the year's theme can be found using the following link. https://www.naidoc.org.au/awards/current-theme
On Monday 1 August 2022, Pennant Hills Public School students will be engaged in a full day incursion run by the Gurrawin company to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Students will be engaging in an Indigenous cultural experience which encompasses traditional and modern activities, including a Welcome to Country ceremony, dance, storytelling, cultural awareness training and sustainability activities.
Performance Band
On Saturday night I had the privilege of watching the school’s Performance band at the Penno High Winter Carnival. It was great to see them perform after many years of only being able to rehearse. They were fabulous. In my opinion they were the best performance of the night. Thank you to Mr Stalenberg and all the parents involved in making this opportunity happen for the students. It was an amazing night, and the band was brilliant.
Share Our Space Program

A MESSAGE FROM THE DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
Sydney North Dance Festival
Our amazing Stage 2 and Stage 3 dance groups were lucky enough to perform at the Sydney North Dance Festival over the weekend at Glen Street theatre. From all accounts they were well-behaved and had a fabulous time! I was lucky enough to watch the Stage 2 dance group perform during the Saturday afternoon performance – what superstars! Well done to everyone involved!
A special thanks to Ms Dy and Ms Steel for giving up their afternoons to supervise the students after school and for continuing that supervision over the weekend. Thank you also to Arnold for working so well with our dancers, it is always such a delight to watch!
School Photos
Students have looked extra sharp this week for school photos. Thank you to Ms Stevens and Ms Schmidt for coordinating the 23 classes, choirs, musical and performing groups, sports leaders, AV leaders, CAPA captains and our school leaders. Looking forward to seeing the final result!
Performance Assembly
Tomorrow afternoon we will be holding our first Performance Assembly in what feels like years! The students are very excited to show us all what they have been working on in dance, choir, band and strings.

President’s Message
Hi All
We’ve almost made it to the holidays, it has been a busier term with many of the school activities ramping up again. There are lots of people to thank for their contribution over Term 2. Most recently the Band Camp was a huge success, thanks to Jen W, Jules W, Mike S and the army of parent volunteers who helped put together the event. We’re all looking forward to the concert tomorrow night.
Thanks to the Green Team for driving the Solar panel initiative, fundraising activity has kicked off and will continue into Term 3 & 4.
The P&C is looking forward to hosting a BBQ early in Term 3 to kick things off, this date will be confirmed early in Term 3.
Just a reminder the next P&C General Meeting is in August as July falls during the school holidays.

- If it's raining the flutes, clarinets, & trumpet players can put their cases under their chairs inside and pack away in there.
- Unfortunately the larger instruments are a little harder, ideally if it's only a little wet they will need to pack away outside on the ramped area.
- If it's bucketing down, then having them pack away inside may be necessary.
- Crowding the door: Please don't let the students crowd the door with bags and instrument cases. School bags should be put on the silver shelves, and instrument cases can be lined up on the ramp.
- Behaviour: If children are misbehaving please help the conductors. Just because they're not playing, doesn't mean they should be talking. If they have a question, classroom rules apply, they raise their hand and wait to be asked. There is a red "Student Behavior'' book which can be used to write children's names in, if a name is in there repeatedly then we will get in touch with their parents.
- Training Band: When walking the students back to the 3-6 site try to have them line up in pairs on the path to the side. Count them twice, check the head count to the marked roll. Tell the students to walk nicely and stick together on the walk up. If possible, have a parent front and rear and discourage wandering. Once all accounted for you are free and thank you for helping.
- Packing up the room: The students are primarily responsible for packing up the music room after band rehearsal. Percussionists should be getting the percussion equipment back toward the wall and covered up, and the rest of the band packing up chairs and stands. It is not to be left to the conductor, or the parent helpers. All students should be involved, and students should not leave until the room is in an acceptable condition.
