School Spectacular
Last weekend our selected choir group participated in the Department of Education’s School Spectacular at Qudos Bank Arena at Sydney Olympic Park. This production was at least a year in the making for the students. Our students attended rehearsals on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and performed on Friday and Saturday. Thank you to Ms Stevens for her extraordinary leadership and commitment to this program. She attended all the professional learning and rehearsals to ensure our students were successful. This required her giving up lots of her time outside a normal workday and for that we are extremely fortunate and grateful. Thank you to all the staff who supported this group and either attended the rehearsals or the performances. Many of these teachers gave up time outside of a normal workday or time over the weekend to support the students. Everyone I have spoken to has mentioned what a wonderful night it was.
Stage 3 Camp – Milson Island
Yesterday our very excited Year 5 students left school to attend their first school camp at Milson Island. From all reports the students had a wonderful first day and were excited to see what challenges awaits them for the next two days. Thank you for the staff attending the camp to support the students and provide them with this magnificent opportunity.
Next week our Year 6 students will be attending. Hopefully this wonderful weather we are experiencing carries over into next for them
Year 6 Fun Day
This Thursday our Year 6 students have organised a ‘Fun Day’ for our K-5 students to assist in raising money for their end of year gift to the school. The students have been actively working on a range of activities so that there is something for everyone to enjoy this Thursday. Thank you to everyone for their support. It has been a few years since we have been able to hold this special day and it promises to be a great day for the students.
Obstacool
The school’s wonderful P&C has organised a special day for the students on Thursday 8 December. A company called Obstacool will be attending school and setting up an inflatable course for our students to enjoy. The cost will be $20 per student and is to be paid through Flexischools (Flexischools: Australia’s #1 School Canteen Online Ordering App) with all monies raised going to the P&C to support their fund raising for solar panels at the school. Each grade will enjoy about 40 minutes on this activity. The students will get wet during this activity so please ensure they bring a towel and change of clothes for the day. The students will be able to wear mufti for the day. A permission note will be coming home this week for this activity. Thank you for organising such a special activity for the students, given all they have missed out on over the last few years.
Kind Regards
Matt Pinchbeck
Principal
The Principal's Pizza Lunch is coming up on Thursday 15 December.
Students are eligible to attend the prestigeous lunch after they have submitted their 3 Principal's Awards to their teacher.
If your child has received 3 Principal's Awards and haven't submitted them, now is the time to do it!

PHPS has a NEW GUINEA PIG!! Please welcome JAFFA to the PHPS family!
Jaffa is a rescue. She belonged to another family who rescued her and her 2 siblings from a lab. Since then, Jaffa’s 2 siblings have died and Jaffa became very, very lonely. Her previous owner put a shout out for a new guinea pig family and found her a new home- with Porcas, LoobyLoo, Opi, Tootsie and Kartoffel!
We are so lucky to have her so please come down to the Green Room to meet JAFFA.

Are you Interested in joining the choir in 2023??
We need students to join the choir in 2023. The choirs rehearse in the morning before school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We participate in school events and major state music festivals such as the Primary Proms, Festival of Choral Music and of course, the Schools Spectacular.
To join the choir, I will listen to you sing. You will need to sing the first verse of Advance Australia Fair and Happy Birthday to me (easy!!!). I will arrange a time for this either next week or very early next year.
There will be open rehearsals for you to come along and try.
- Weemala Choir (Students in years 3 and 4 in 2023): the open rehearsal will be next Tuesday morning, 6 December. Rehearsal starts at 8am and finishes at 9:00. I will walk students back up to 3-6 afterward.
- Ramsay Choir (Students in years 5 and 6 in 2023): open rehearsal will be next Wednesday morning, 6 December. Rehearsal starts at 8am and finishes at 9:00. Students are walked back up to 3-6 afterward.
Please come along to the open rehearsal and fill out this form to indicate your interest in joining the choir in 2023.

Student Borrowing Has Now Finished For The Year
Many thanks to all those students who have returned their library books.
Borrowing has now finished for the year so all books must be returned so that the library can be organised for the coming year.
Overdue book reminders are still being issued so have a good look under beds, bookshelves and anywhere else you think the books may be. If your child attends BASC, please check there too.
If your child receives a reminder notice and you cannot find the book, please let me know so we can double-check the shelves.
Happy book hunting!

President’s Message
Hi All
Planning is underway for the final P&C activities for 2022, with the Ostacool Course (www.obstacool.com.au) pencilled in for Thursday, 8 December and a BBQ during the End of Year Concert on Thursday, 15 December.
The December P&C General meeting will be held in person on Tuesday, 6 December, at 7.30 pm in the hall on the K-2 site. This is a great chance to celebrate the end of the year and say thank you to our many volunteers from 2022. We’ll also farewell some families who are leaving PHPS in 2022.
Have a great week.

P&C President
Native Nibbles Garden
IT’S NEARLY TIME TO PLANT!!
Last Saturday, irrigation was installed in the Native Nibbles garden. Big thanks to Sean Robson who lent his expertise. Also to Kate Wasson (and family) and Anneke Hutchens who lent additional hands. As our plants will be going into the ground right before summer and most of them are tubestock (with small root systems), we need an easy way to water them over summer to ensure their survival…
Speaking of plants JOIN US THIS SATURDAY, 3 DECEMBER FOR PLANTING. That’s right folks, all the prep work is done and now we get to nestle some lovely green pups into the ground and watch as they grow into a beautiful, edible, native, garden for many future generations of PHPS kids and families to enjoy.
When?
This Saturday, 3 December
- First round: 9am-noon
- Second round: 3:30pm-5:30pm (unless completed earlier)
What to bring?
Hats, gloves, sunscreen, water, trowels, watering cans… and yes… more worm wee
As the proverb goes…
“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now”
So let's get planting!
Keep an eye on SZapp for any updates OR for updates on Native Nibbles AND the PHPS Garden Group, join our WhatsApp group using the link below.

The WhatsApp group is where rain checks, last minute info, requests and changes are made so it is helpful to be signed up there.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!!
There are only 3 weeks left of school for this year, so the canteen will soon start running down stock. This means that as we approach Friday the 16th of December some items will appear as “Out of Stock”. It is always a tricky thing to balance as we don’t want to run out too early, and we want to be left with as little stock as possible over the holidays.
Apple Crumble will be back at 3-6 on Friday.
Volunteers Needed
WE ARE STILL IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS for the following times please:
- RECESS: 3-6 only: 11-11.45am. Any day but especially FRIDAY.
- LUNCH: Both sites: 1-1.45pm. Any day for 3-6. WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY for K-2 at this stage.
Please contact me if you are able to help at either of these times or if you would like to know more. It’s a fun and easy way to get involved in your child’s school life and they just love you being there.
All volunteers need a current “ Working With Children Check” which can be obtained through Service NSW.
PSSA Alert
Please remember to click on the PSSA Alert when placing a lunch order on a Friday if your child is in Stage 3 and plays PSSA sport.
If you have any questions, or would like to be involved in the canteen, please contact me.
