Communication
Communication at any school is the key to a successful relationship. I encourage you to read the newsletter that comes out each Tuesday, download the school SZapp and search for Pennant Hills Public School, and if you are new provide your email to the Class Parent for each class. These forms of communication will ensure that you are kept up to date with what is happening at school and in your child’s class. If you are ever in doubt about where to go for help, please contact the school’s office on 9484 1134.
P&C Meeting
Tonight, will be our first P&C meeting for the year. The meeting starts at 7:30pm and will be in the school hall (located on the K-2 site). It is a great way to hear what is happening in and around the school. The P&C is always in need of volunteers to assist. The P&C supports the school and its students (your children) to ensure they receive the best possible education experience. If you have skills in a particular area, please give some serious thoughts to supporting the great work of the P&C. The specific details about the meeting will be in the P&C section further down in this newsletter.
From 7pm the P&C will be on site meeting anyone who wishes to hear more about the P&C and the several areas they look after.
Mrs Buttrey will be presenting the school’s Wellbeing structure to the community. This program has sought input from all stakeholders over the last two years and we are very excited about its impending start date of next term. The aim is to improve the experience of all students whilst at school and have a consistent, up-to-date, research-based program to support the students. We encourage you to attend and have the opportunity to provide feedback.
Mrs Wasson will talk about the professional learning path the school will be undertaking this year. Our focus will continue to be on Mathematics and reading and is all based on research-based best practice.
Meet The Teacher Night
Next week is our Meet the Teacher night where it is a great opportunity to meet your child’s teacher/s for 2023. This night is about being informed about your child’s class for 2023. It is not an opportunity to speak with your child’s teacher about individual matters. As always, if you do need to make a time to meet with your child’s teacher please contact the office on pennanthil-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au or 9484 1134. All meetings for Meet the Teacher night will take place in your child’s classroom.
Kindergarten is on Monday 13 February at 5pm.
Stage 1 is on Wednesday 15 February at 5pm.
Stage 2 is on Monday 13 February at 6pm.
Stage 3 is on Wednesday 15 February at 6pm.
Back to School Vouchers
Last week the school was advised that Back to School vouchers can be used by families to pay for school excursions for their school aged children. At this stage this is all the information we have. As more information comes to light, I will be sure to inform the community as to how these can be claimed at school.
Kind Regards

A MESSAGE FROM THE DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
First Day of Kindergarten for 2023
What an exciting day Friday was, the first day of school for our Kindergarten students! It was a very relaxed morning with our staggered start and the students settled very quickly. There were no tears from students or parents – a real winner! We are so glad to have such a wonderful bunch of students join our community. The below photos were taken at approximately 10am – very happy and settled.
2023 Swimming Carnival
Yesterday was the 2023 Swimming Carnival, held at Hornsby pool. The weather turned it on for us and it truly was a wonderful day. The team spirit amongst the students was strong and most students gave it their best shot. Thank you to the parents and carers who came to spectate throughout the day, it was lovely to have you involved again. As always, a thank you to the teachers for ensuring a successful event, it takes a team to work well together to ensure everything gets done properly, we even had time for the Year 6 doggy paddle race! Special thanks to Mrs McLaren and Mrs Griffith for coordinating the event.
Well done everyone on an amazing effort!

President’s Message
Hi All
Welcome back to all PHPS families, and a special welcome to new families who have joined the school in 2023.
We’re looking forward to another great year with the PHPS P&C, and are working through the event list for 2023.
Tonight is the first P&C General Meeting, being held in person in the hall on the K-2 site. Members from the P&C team will be attending from 7pm, so if you’re interested in getting involved come along and meet the team. The meeting will start at 7.30pm and we’ll be joined by Mrs Buttrey, who will present the school’s wellbeing program, as well as updates from Mr Pinchbeck and Mrs Wasson. The P&C will also vote on a motion to support the integration of BASC in to the P&C entity.
The February meeting is the last opportunity to join as a financial member prior to the Annual General Meeting (AGM) in March. This can be done via a gold coin donation and will ensure you are able to vote at AGM.
Have a great week.
Luke

The canteen is open for lunch orders through Flexischools every day. Cut off for placing orders is 9am.
Please note that Juicy Tubes are now 80 c each, and Frozen Juice Cups (3-6 only) are now $1.00 each.
We are still trying very hard to find a new Sushi supplier. In the meantime, I'm afraid that Sushi will not be available to order.
The 3-6 Canteen is open for over the counter sales during lunch on Tuesdays, and Recess and Lunch on Fridays.
The K-2 Canteen will be open during Lunch on Wednesdays and Fridays, providing we have volunteers to facilitate this. The price list is below.
Recess is from 11.15 - 11.35am, and Lunch is from 1-1.40pm. Please contact me if you are able to help at any of these times, or if you would like to know more.
We rely on volunteers to be able to do counter sales. It’s a fun and easy way to get involved in your child’s school life and they just love you being there.
We are also in need of volunteers to help in the canteen with things like: labelling of lunch bags and drinks, some basic food prep and packing of lunches. This help is especially needed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays. Whatever time you can stay and help will be much appreciated. I would love to hear from you!!
All volunteers need a current “ Working With Children Check” which can be obtained through Service NSW.
