Semester One Academic Reports
Semester One reports will be sent home Monday 26 June. This report format provides families with information about their child’s progress. All reports will highlight student achievement in the classroom, show levels of effort displayed by the students and their commitment to learning. Students in Years 1-6 will also receive an overall grade for each Key Learning Area.
This is a sample of what the report format will look like and what each section means for you as a parent.
Thank you to the teaching staff for the many hours they have spent compiling these reports. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher to discuss this further.
Festival of Instrumental Music
This afternoon Mrs Wasson is accompanying students from the Strings Group who are performing at the Sydney Opera House as part of the Festival of Instrumental Music. This fantastic opportunity is provided by the NSW Department of Education with schools applying to be a part of the Festival. Many thanks to the parents and students for their commitment to this event. I also thank Mrs Wasson for giving up her time to supervise the students. I am looking forward to watching the afternoon rehearsal today as they prepare for their performance tonight. Well done to everyone involved.
Sydney North PSSA Cross Country
This Thursday two of our students will represent Beecroft Zone PSSA at the Sydney North PSSA Cross Country. We wish Parker and Isla the very best of luck as they compete at Gosford Racecourse against 11 other Zones that make up Sydney North PSSA. Making it to this level is a huge achievement and I know both students are looking forward to giving it their best.
Music Camp
Music Camp begins this Sunday and I want to take the opportunity to thank the staff and parents who have been working behind the scenes for months now to ensure a successful event. I am very much looking forward to their concert next Tuesday afternoon.
Students in Years 3-6 who are not participating in the Music Camp will be participating in a range of activities throughout the two days. The activities are linked to the syllabus and provide an opportunity for the students to explore their passions and curiosity in many areas. The students will be in rotational groups for these two days and will work with a range of teachers. In previous years these days have been a great success. Thank you to all staff and parents for their work to cater for all the students in Years 3-6.
Kind Regards
Matt Pinchbeck
Principal
A MESSAGE FROM DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
Festival of Instrumental Music
Today I had the pleasure of accompanying some of the students from PHPS Strings group to the Opera House for their rehearsal for the Festival of Instrumental Music. Their performance is later tonight. We can't wait! They are already sounding simply amazing! Good luck Strings Group!
4P Scientists
4P has been learning about the different types of forces in Science.
Egg Drop Challenge
We have tested gravitational forces by doing the egg drop challenge.
We made egg cases to protect our egg from breaking using recycled materials.
All our group eggs made it!
Parachutes
We tested air resistance force by creating parachutes.
We used recycled materials to float a clip down from a certain height as slowly as we could. The parachute that floated down the longest was the most successful.
Kind Regards
Kate Wasson
Deputy Principal

You should then see the amount credited into your Flexischools account once it is approved and processed by Flexischools. Please allow some time for the refunds to be processed.
Please remember, if your order is less than the voucher amount, the remaining amount of your voucher is forfeited and cannot be used. The uniform shop is not able to hold the remaining value of the vouchers as credit for future orders.
If you have any queries regarding Uniforms, the school website will be the best place to look, and if you can’t find the information you need, please do not hesitate to e-mail the Uniform Shop at phpsuniformshop@gmail.com

Rose Foster, our Training and Intermediate band conductor, would be running the workshops. Rose has a long history with Jazz bands and plays in them professionally. She facilitated our last improv workshop, and also conducts Jazz Improv workshops at other schools.
As this would be run as an addition to the normal band program we would need to cover the cost of Rose's time, so a charge would be applicable. The exact amount would depend on the number of students attending, but would likely be around $70-$80, which is in line with other school holiday activities.
We would need at least 8 students to make it viable. Maximum number of attendees is 12 (Please understand this is not really suitable for Training Band members).
This is purely optional, and a chance for them to learn some of the tips and tricks for how to make up Jazz solos on the fly.
If this is something your child would be interested in please indicate which days you'd be available to attend by filling in this web form:
If we get enough responses for a particular day then we'll lock it in.

Good Afternoon,
We continue to see an increase of Possession of Gel Blasters in the community, in particular possession by young people. They are relatively cheap and easy to purchase via the internet. In NSW gel blasters are illegal.
The Firearms Act defines a firearm as
‘firearm means a gun, or other weapon, that is (or at any time was) capable of propelling a projectile by means of an explosive, and includes a blank fire firearm, or an air gun, but does not include a paintball marker within the meaning of the Paintball Act 2018 or anything declared by the regulations not to be a firearm’
NSW Police commenced an ongoing National Firearm Amnesty where firearms can be handed into Police stations without the fear of prosecution.
We want to raise awareness, educate and prevent these firearms coming to your school.
If you need further information please reach out.
