Mobile Phones, Smart Watches and Devices
Students and parents are reminded that any student who brings a mobile phone to school must hand it in at the office every morning and collect it in the afternoon. The phones are stored securely throughout the day. There is no need for a student to require a phone during the day at school. If they have forgotten something or need to contact their parents, they are able to speak with their teacher or the office who will decide the course of action.
The same applies to Smart watches and devices. No student is allowed to use their Smart watch as a communication device throughout the day. This is a NSW Department of Education Policy for Primary Schools. The policy protects all students whilst at school. Please ensure these devices have that function disabled if your child is wearing that type of watch.
I thank you for your support with this matter.
Kindergarten (2024) Open Day
Today we welcomed approximately 50 families to the Pennant Hills Public School community who will have children starting Kindergarten with us next year. The parents who were able to attend were treated to performances by; Weemala Choir, Senior Band, Year 2 Dance Group and KC and KA performing a song they have been learning. It was wonderful to see students performing. Parents also had the opportunity to hear from Mr Luke Whenman (P&C President) and Mrs Erin Jeacle (BASC Director) and we thank them for giving their time to talk to these families. Later this year we will hold a Parent Information Session and our traditional Kindilinks program for families starting school next year.
If you know of any families that have children due to start at our school next year and live in our catchment area please encourage them to enrol online as soon as possible. This ensures they are included in the transition process and enables the school to plan accordingly. All enrolments are online now. Please click here for the link. All in-area enrolments will be accepted.
On this page you will also find information relating to 'Out-of-area' enrolments. Out-of-area enrolments also apply online, however, these applications will be assessed by a panel formed by the school. This is the current Policy of the NSW Department of Education. Due to the size of our school, we are only able to accept Out-of-area applications that are considered exceptional or extenuating circumstances. Please ensure you mention your reasons during the online enrolment process.
Family Law Guidelines
The department recognises that family breakdowns take place. Unless there is formal notice otherwise, it is assumed that both parents have shared and equal parental responsibility for their children and both parents have been involved in decisions regarding their children’s education. This also means the school recognises that each parent has equal duties, obligations, responsibilities and opportunities relating to matters involving the school.
If changes occur in your family relationship which might impact on the relationship between the school and your family, you should advise the school immediately. This includes providing copies of any relevant court orders.
Social Media
Social Media is the way of the world now for so many people. It can be quite a positive experience for most people when being used productively and for its intended purpose. Unfortunately, over the last few weeks the school has been informed on several occasions of parents using social media platforms to comment on staff at Pennant Hills Public School. Please be aware that these communication channels are not endorsed by the school in any way. If there is any matter that you would like to discuss with your child’s teacher please contact the office on 9484 1134 and they will assist you in arranging a suitable time to meet. Meeting directly with the teacher is the best way to resolve any issue that you may be experiencing.
Kind Regards

A MESSAGE FROM DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
Kindergarten 2024 Open Day
This morning we welcomed some of our families whose children will be starting with us in Kindergarten next year. Thank you to our Year One families for contributing a great spread of morning tea; to Luke Whenman, our P&C President, for sharing some of the amazing things that the P&C does for our whole school community; Erin the Director of BASC; Nicola from the uniform shop for outlining the school uniform and additional items and Bec who spoke about the Primary Ethics Program. Ms Stevens and the choir as well as the Kindergarten musical performance were brilliant. We also had some amazing performances from our band, our Year 2 Dance Group and our School Captains; Amelia and Nathan, spoke beautifully about their experiences at school. A big thank you to Mrs Coventry for organising the Open Day and all of the staff and parents who contributed to making it such a successful event.
We look forward to welcoming our Kindergarten 2024 parents back for their Kindergarten Information Evening, later in the year.
Kindergarten 2024 Website
Due to some feedback from parents and carers, we have created a website for our Kindergarten 2024 families. It is still under construction and will be added to gradually. Thank you Mrs Tucker and Mrs Coventry for creating and contributing to the website, it’s coming together nicely!

Pennant Hills Marketplace – Focus on Sustainability
We are so proud to have three of our student’s artworks displayed at Pennant Hills Marketplace to demonstrate our focus on sustainability. Pennant Hills Marketplace is promoting an Environmental Community Campaign where they are advertising all of the great things members of the local community are doing to improve our natural environment.

TRANSFER DAY - MERIT / WELLBEING AWARDS
On Tuesday 13 June, all 3-6 students will have their number of current awards recorded officially so that they will be able to transfer onto our new wellbeing system. We are asking ALL 3-6 students to bring in any awards they may have received over the years on this day - both Merit and Principal's awards included.
Please bring them in a zip lock or sealable bag which is clearly labelled with your child's name and class.
Please note that students will not receive a new award, this is simply to record which level they will enter the new system at.
It is still the student's responsibility to keep all earned awards.
K-2 students can still bring in the awards for the teacher to record if they haven't already.
Wellbeing Team
A reminder that the PHPS Premier's Spelling Bee finals will be held in the school hall in Week 10, Tuesday, 27 June.
Each class in Stages 2 and 3 will put forward their 2 top spellers as class finalists to compete. Should Stage 1 students wish to take part, they are welcome to compete in the Junior competition. Parents and Carers are welcome to attend to watch.
A Junior Spelling Bee Student Finalist from Stage 1 or 2 and a Senior Spelling Bee Finalist from Stage 3 will then take part and compete in Regional Finals. Regional winners then compete in the State Final.

President’s Message
Hi All
Thanks to Mrs Wasson and Mrs Coventry for the invitation to attend the Kindy Open day today. It was great to see some new families, as well as some younger siblings joining the school in 2024, and briefly introduce the P&C.
Well done to the Bands and Strings group who performed over the weekend, they all received some excellent feedback. A big thanks to all of the parent volunteers who helped on the day.
Just a reminder that the P&C General Meeting will be held tonight (Tuesday 6 June) from 7.30pm, in person at the school hall. This is a great opportunity to hear from both the P&C and the PHPS school executive on what’s ahead for the 2nd half of 2023.
Interested in getting involved in the P&C? Feel free to email to learn more about the committees and volunteering opportunities.
Have a great week.
Luke Whenman
P&C President

Back to School Vouchers
The uniform Shop is still accepting back to school vouchers until June 30. The vouchers can be used to purchase NEW uniform items and accessories and cannot be used for the purchase of preloved/second hand items.
To use the vouchers on Flexischools the Vouchers need to be applied to the same order as your items, simply include the voucher numbers when selecting the Back to School Vouchers item on your order. Please do not make Flexischools orders which only contain vouchers, they will not be processed by Flexischools as credit to your Flexischools accounts and we cannot hold credit on uniform shop customer accounts.
Applying the vouchers to your Flexischools order will not automatically deduct from the payment amount at checkout. You will have to pay the full amount of your order at time of purchase. A refund to your Flexischools account will be requested once your voucher is redeemed by the Uniform Shop on the day we process the order. You should then see the amount credited into your Flexischools account once it is approved and processed by Flexischools. Please allow some time for the refunds to be processed.
Please remember, if your order is less than the voucher amount, the remaining amount of your voucher is forfeited and cannot be used. The uniform shop is not able to hold the remaining value of the vouchers as credit for future orders.
From all reports, all the students had an excellent time, and are looking forward to their next public performance!

RSPCA Winter School Holiday Program
We are excited to announce that registrations for our upcoming Winter School Holiday Programs are open!
Program Overview
At RSPCA NSW, we believe education is the key to creating lasting change. Our School Holiday Program aims to help young people develop their knowledge, skills and understanding around improving the welfare of companion, farmed and wild animals alike in a fun, hands-on way. Children and teens will learn how to better understand and care for our furry, feathery, and scaly friends in order to give them a happy, healthy, and enriched life. They will also go behind-the-scenes on a shelter tour to meet our animals and have fun creating enrichment toys for their own pet or to donate to our shelter animals.
- ? Monday 3 July – Friday 14 July
- Age groups: we offer a range of programs to young people between the ages of 5 to 17 years.
- ? Half and full day sessions from 9.00am – 3.00pm
