Student Medical Needs
A condition of enrolment at any NSW Public School is for the school to be made aware of a student’s medical needs. This includes ensuring the school is provided with the appropriate documentation and supplies to ensure the safety of your child. If your child has any medical needs that the school is not aware of, could you please contact the office on 9484 1134 to speak with them about your child’s needs. The office staff will assist you in ensuring your child’s needs are met at school.
Beecroft Zone Cross Country
Last Thursday was the annual Beecroft Zone Cross Country that was held at Fagan Park. It was a fantastic day with brilliant weather. It was fantastic to see our students compete and represent our school. Thank you to all the parents, grandparents and friends who were able to come and support the students. It was wonderful to see.
Our school won the 8/9 Years Girl’s section, as well as the 12/13 Years Boy’s section of the carnival. Points are allocated for all places for the students competing in the race. A fantastic team result as Beecroft Zone PSSA is made up of 21 schools.
Special mention to Parker P and Isla A. We wish these students the very best of luck as they will now represent Beecroft Zone PSSA at the upcoming Sydney North PSSA Cross Country. This is being held at Gosford Racecourse on Thursday 15 June 2023.
Thank you to Mrs Cumming and Mrs Gardener for supporting the students and the carnival on the day.
Kind Regards

Student Potential Survey
PHPS is committed to continual improvement and as such we are beginning our conversations and Professional Learning around the potential of our students.
I would love to collect some information about your child. Please could you fill out this 2 minute survey. Student Potential Parent Survey.
I will also be at the school gates some mornings and afternoons asking the same questions - I hope to chat to you then!
Hatching Chicks Program – Kindergarten
Kindergarten have had some visitors arrive! Last week, a batch of eggs in an incubator were set up in the KW classroom. Slowly, slowly, the little chicks and ducklings are hatching. It is an amazing experience for our students to see this occur, right before their eyes. The Hatching Chicks program is part of the Kindergarten Science unit of work on living things. It helps that they’re super cute too!
Schoolyard Safari Incursion - Stage 1
Last Tuesday the Year 1 students had a 'Schoolyard Safari' incursion. Kate and Claire from Gibberagong visited the school and the students had a wonderful time learning about invertebrates.
Stage 2 Excursion
Year 4 attended an excellent excursion yesterday at Bobbin Head National Park with Ranger Jamie. They took part in some bug catching, crab catching and bush walking, exploring the natural environment of Australia, and how different ecosystems work together. Year 3 will be participating in the same excursion today, we know they will have an amazing time!
Using counters and ten-frames to add to 20
KW used counters and ten frames to add the total of rolling a dice two times. The clever wombats were able to extend their addition by rolling the dice more than two times! Using counters and ten frames allow children to visualize numbers and understand what happens when adding numbers. Great work wombats!
How can we sort different items?
KW experimented different ways of sorting objects with similar features. They discovered that objects can be sorted by colours, shape, size etc. After sorting and working together in groups, we had a Gallery Walk where the students had the chance to see how other groups sorted their objects.
Guinea Pigs
Mrs Schmidt very kindly brings in her pet guinea pigs for our students to look after during the day. The guinea pigs can have a calming impact on our students and apparently, our staff! Pete, who is one of our cleaners, also enjoyed a snuggle with a piggy.
Kind Regards

Stage 3 Interschool Sport Coordinators
Congratulations to all the children that received their 1-5 position ribbons at the 3-6 assembly.
8 and 9 Years
Mrs Cumming
Cross Country Coordinator
On Thursday 25 May, 40 children attended the Zone Cross Country carnival, at Fagan Park. The weather was crisp and sunny. We arrived and were excited to race.
After completing our sighting lap, the 8/9 boys were the first to race followed by the 8/9 girls. Isla came 5th earning her a spot at the Sydney North Area in Gosford. Congratulations Isla! Ashleigh came 34th, Madeleine came 20th and Nellie came 11th and Chloe came 39th. Their combined positions meant that they bet 20 other schools to be named the 8/9 girls age champions. Well done girls!
This race was followed by our 10 years boys and girls. It was a very competitive field and they tried their best. Parker came 6th and also earnt a spot at the Sydney North Area. Congratulations Parker! Willow came 10th with an outstanding personal effort.
This was followed by the 11 years boys and girls which ran a longer track - running through tighter trees and more compacted bushland. They all tried their best and should be commended on their efforts.
The last two races of the day were the 12/13 boys then the girls. All 5 of our 12/13 boys scored in the top 30 overall out of over 100 racers and did extremely well as a team. Nathan came 8th, Tom came 10th, Robert came 21st, Ryan came 25th and Logan came 27th. It was a fantastic team effort from the 12/13 boys who also earned also earned the age champion title. Congratulations boys! Last race of the day was the 12/13 girls who put in outstanding effort after waiting such a long time to race.
Thank you to Mrs Gardener for being our outstanding team manager, Mr Scott for setting up and packing up the marquee, Mr Pinchbeck for running the merchandise stand all day on his own, Mrs Cumming for helping on the scoring desk and our amazing PHPS parents that helped support their children.
It was a wonderful day and we wish the best of luck to the 2 children moving forward to Sydney North Area on Thursday 15 June.
