A MESSAGE FROM DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
Bathroom Beautification
Our Year 6 students from 2021 raised funds to reinvigorate the bathrooms on the 3-6 site. After surveying our SRC on their favourite quotes, Tim B from the Print Lab Sydney measured up the spaces and designed the new stickers. These were installed yesterday afternoon and the students who entered the bathrooms this morning were delighted by what they saw! They really do look amazing! Thank you to Tim B and the Print Lab and a very special thank you to Year 6 of 2021 for raising the funds! They even raised enough to do the K-2 bathrooms as well!
4P
4P have been working hard at creating an Ozobot challenge for the topic of ‘chance’ in Mathematics. Great work at using Digital Technologies to demonstrate your understanding of a mathematical concept 4P!
They also have taken their fluency pairs during literacy groups to a new level, where they have been filming each other taking on the role of news presenter. Another great way to exhibit your skills!
1/2C
1/2C were using materials in the natural environment to construct canoes that were structurally sound. It reminds me of the Bluey episode – Barky Boats, which you can watch here if you have an ABC iView account. Great work 1/2C, it looked like so much fun!
Athletics Carnival
Training for the 2-6 Athletics Carnival is well underway with Stage 2 practicing yesterday in the long jump pit, with the shot puts and high jump. It’s going to be a great event when it arrives in Week 2 of Term 3.

PREMIER'S SPELLING BEE FOR 2023
PHPS Has Entered The Premier’s Spelling Bee Competition
The Premier’s Spelling Bee is a fun and educational way for NSW public primary school students to engage in spelling.
The program includes activities to encourage all students to improve their vocabulary and spelling and to promote literacy skills in combination with the English K-6 Syllabus.
The PHPS Premier's Spelling Bee finals will be held in the school hall in Week 10, Tuesday, 27 June.
Each class in Stages 2 and 3 will put forward their 2 top spellers as class finalists to compete. Should Stage 1 students wish to take part, they are welcome to compete in the Junior competition. Parents and Carers are welcome to attend to watch.
A Junior Spelling Bee Student Finalist from Stage 1 or 2 and a Senior Spelling Bee Finalist from Stage 3 will then take part and compete in Regional Finals. Regional winners then compete in the State Final.
If any students would like to better prepare and practise their spelling, they are welcome to access the 2023 Junior and Senior word lists via this link here.
Remember to get the password from your class teacher.
GET SPELLING and good luck!!

Premier’s Spelling Bee Coordinator
President’s Message
Hi All,
Just a reminder that the next P&C General Meeting will be Tuesday 6 June from 7:30pm, in person at the school hall. This is a great opportunity to hear from both the P&C and the PHPS school executive on what’s ahead for the 2nd half of 2023.
Interested in getting involved in the P&C? Feel free to email to learn more about the committees and volunteering opportunities.
Have a great week.

If your child does Stage 3 PSSA Netball or Soccer PLEASE remember to click on the Alert when ordering lunch on a Friday. These lunches need to be ready 30 minutes earlier than all other lunches. We cannot guarantee that they will be ready on time if we do not know in advance.
We will be making Honey Soy Chicken Drumsticks this Friday. You are able to order them now. There will be a limited number available, including some that are Gluten Free.
Apple Crumble and Custard will also be available to buy over the counter at Recess and Lunch on Friday at the 3-6 Canteen.
Parent Helpers
There are currently a total of 8 Mums, as well as Peta, our Canteen Committee Convenor, who are keeping the K-2 Canteen running on Wednesdays and Fridays!! It would be wonderful if we had a few more people willing to help out and spread the load a little.
If you are available from 1pm-1.45pm on either of these days please consider coming to help. The children absolutely love having a parent/loved one there. It would be the highlight of their week!!
REMINDERS - Cut-off time for placing orders is 8.45am
