Mother’s Day Breakfast
Last Friday the school held its annual Mother’s Day breakfast for all significant ‘Mums’ in our lives. It was a fabulous morning with a few hundred people in attendance throughout the morning. Everyone seemed to be having a wonderful time. We hope that all ‘Mums’ had a wonderful breakfast on Friday and an even more wonderful Sunday with their families. Mums play an incredibly important role in all our lives and for that we say, ‘Thank you!'
A special thanks to Mrs Gardener and Mrs McCloghry for their organisation of the breakfast. They, along with a couple of others, arrived at school before 6am to ensure a wonderful morning. Many staff also stayed back late on Thursday afternoon to assist with the set up. Thank you to all staff for their involvement in making it such a great day.
Semester One Academic Reports
All students will receive their Semester One academic report on Monday 26 June. The report will provide you information relating to their learning and achievement for Terms one and two of this year. If you ever have any queries about your child’s academic progress please ensure you make an appointment to speak with their teacher.
Kindergarten Open Day
School Crossings
Our school is very fortunate to have three crossings supervisors who manage the crossings on Greycliffe Avenue, Weemala Road and Ramsay Road. The crossing supervisors are here because of an identified need based on the number of students at school and the volume of traffic around our school in the morning and afternoon. I am sure that each and every one of us has seen the potential for injury due to the volume of cars. Sadly, it has come to my attention that students are being encouraged to cross the road by their supervising adult and are not using the crossing, which in some instances is only metres away. I encourage everyone to set an example for our students and use the identified crossings to limit the potential for an accident to occur. I thank you in advance for support with this matter.
Kind Regards

Mother's Day Stall
We hope all the special women in your lives had a wonderful Mother’s Day on Sunday! How lucky we are to have such wonderful women in our community, supporting our school and our students.
Thank you to Ali P and her amazing team of volunteers for the hours that went into organising the Mother’s Day stall last week. No doubt all the special women who received a gift from the stall were very happy! The students absolutely love going and picking something from the stall each year, it really is a highlight for them.
Festival of Instrumental Music (FOIM)
Yesterday I had the pleasure of accompanying the PHPS Strings group to their rehearsal for the Festival of Instrumental Music. The students played beautifully, behaved well and were a delight. I know they are looking forward to performing at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday 13 June, where again I will have the opportunity to accompany them. Mr Pinchbeck is attending the special daytime viewing of the rehearsal before the night time performance. If you would like to book tickets to the performance, please book through the Sydney Opera House - www.sydneyoperahouse.com and they go on sale TODAY!
Boccia competition
We are so proud of our students who competed at the Boccia competition on Friday. From all reports the students (and Ms Schmidt and Mrs Wright!) had a fabulous time! Our players picked up the game really quickly and played Normanhurst in the final, to come home with a win! They are now off to compete in Zone! Well done!
Kind Regards

We have a new award called a Burumin. Burumin is Dharug for ‘possum’ it has been named after our school totem Pem.
The Burumin is handed out by all teachers, across all areas of the school to students who are demonstrating our three-core values, Respect, Aspire and Responsibility.
Each site also has a Burumin box which is taken to assembly each fortnight. Three Burumins are drawn from the box at assembly, the students whose names are on the Burumin are rewarded with a prize.
When the Burumin box is filled with awards the whole site receives a reward.
Another new part of our reward system is our Tens Frames. Every student has a tens frame with their name on it in their classroom.
Every day teachers reward students demonstrating our three-core values, Respect, Aspire and Responsibility with a stamp on the students’ tens frame.
Once the student has filled their tens frame by demonstrating our three core values, they receive a merit award.
INCLUSIVE SCHOOL SPORT - BOCCIA
Last Friday, 12 May, saw our newly formed multi-grade BOCCIA team, travel to Thornleigh Brick Pit for a round robin tournament against 10 other primary schools from Northwest Sydney.
The aim of the tournament is to provide opportunities for students with disability to participate in sport as the game is adapted to ensure the competition is inclusive of all.
It was a pleasure to take our Boccia team to the tournament. All the kids applied themselves and put in some major effort to help each other in every game, and they did so very brilliantly that they won all the games they played and won the tournament! YAY!! They were so happy ? We were so proud of them.
Our BOCCIA team will now be competing in the State Final at Sydney Olympic Park in early Term 3.
Some photos of our day...
The K-6 Cross Country was held on Monday 8th May 2023 on the K-2 site. The weather was cold but that couldn’t dampen the excitement to be together again as a whole school. The children enjoyed the day and it was such a pleasure to see many happy and satisfied faces at the completion of each event (even though some were exhausted!) A big THANKS to all parents, family members and people from the community who came along to support the event. It was nice seeing the encouragement shown to all students as they completed each lap of the course.
Congratulations must also go to the following students who won their events.

The students that came 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th will be presented a ribbon during the next 3-6 assembly on Wednesday 24th May 2023 which starts at approximately 2.10pm. Parents/caregivers of these children are welcome to come along. The Zone Cross Country Championships is being held on Thursday 25 May at Fagan Park. Please return notes and payment as soon as possible.
All the students participating in the cross country received an ice block handed out by the amazing parents who volunteered their time on the day. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered their time- you were amazing! A special thank you to both Liz Fowler who was there all day and Rebecca Stalenberg for coordinating the effort. The students also thoroughly enjoyed sharing the picnic lunch where all the students and families were able to share this special day together. Many parents commented how much they enjoyed this special part of the day.
It was a fantastic day for all the students and teachers and on behalf of the cross country committee would like to thank all the students for their amazing behaviour on the day, the P and C for their outstanding effort and the staff who ensured that all the students were safe and encouraged.

You should then see the amount credited into your Flexischools account once it is approved and processed by Flexischools. Please allow some time for the refunds to be processed.
Please remember, if your order is less than the voucher amount, the remaining amount of your voucher is forfeited and cannot be used. The uniform shop is not able to hold the remaining value of the vouchers as credit for future orders.
