On Tuesday 25 April Mrs Donoghue accompanied the school’s student leaders to Beecroft Cenotaph to commemorate ANZAC Day. The school captains laid a wreath to pay our respects to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we live and enjoy the freedoms of our Australian society on a daily basis. We thank each student and their family for giving their time to mark such a special occasion in Australia’s history.
Term 2 Staff Development Day
Day 1 of this term was a successful day of learning for teaching and support staff from our Community of Schools - Beecroft Public School, Cherrybrook Public School, Pennant Hills High School, Pennant Hills Public School, Thornleigh West Public School and West Pennant Hills Public School.
Approximately 350 teachers attended Pennant Hills High School to engage in the very important topic of Aboriginal Education. Staff spent the day deeply investigating Aboriginal Education through the Building Confidence - Cultural Understanding and Historical Understanding workshops.
Our day began with an Acknowledgement of Country by Aboriginal students from the six schools together with a Q&A video where some of our First Nations students told us what they would like their teachers to consider, as they undertook their learning. To access the video please CLICK HERE.
As you can imagine, this was a massive undertaking and I would like to sincerely thank the Principals of our Community of Schools: Mrs Randall, Mr Vassila, Mr Warren, Mr Hubbert and Ms Harris for their hard work and dedication to making this day such a success.
Thank you to all staff for their enthusiasm throughout the day.
2023 Cross Country
Yesterday’s Cross Country was an amazing success. Congratulations to Mrs Cumming for her thorough and diligent organisation of the day. It was absolutely brilliant to see so many people come to school throughout the day to support their child. It was brilliant to see. A huge thanks to all the parents who volunteered to support the Canteen on the day. It is a mammoth exercise supplying food for hundreds of people, well done.
Congratulations to all the boys and girls who gave it a go yesterday. Whether you were running for a place, or simply running with your friends it was great to see everyone participating. Well done! Congratulations to the students who completed in the Age group races (not year groups) who placed in the first five positions you will now be representing the school at the upcoming Beecroft Zone PSSA Cross Country. This carnival is being held on Thursday 25 May at Fagan Park Galston. Those competitors who placed in the top five spots will receive more information via a permission note in the next few days.
Mother’s Day Breakfast
This Sunday is a very special day on our calendar as we celebrate Mother’s Day. I would like to wish all our “mums” a very special day on Sunday. We hope your family takes time to acknowledge all the work you do for your children. This Friday morning, we will be holding our traditional Mother’s Day breakfast that has been organised by Mrs McCloghry and Mrs Gardener. Thank you to both ladies and all staff who will arrive very early on Friday morning to make it such a success that I know it will be.
Opportunity Class Year 5 in 2024
Opportunity classes located in government primary schools cater for academically gifted Year 5 and Year 6 students with high potential. These classes help students to learn by grouping them with students of similar ability, using specialised teaching methods and educational materials at the appropriate level.
The Selective Education Unit administers the opportunity class placement process.
Parents normally apply when students are in Year 4. Students who are placed then attend the opportunity class full time in Years 5 and 6 at the primary school with an opportunity class. It is a two-year placement program. In the majority of cases, students who accept a place in an opportunity class will leave their current school to attend the school with an opportunity class.
There is no provision to apply for Year 6 placement only.
There are 77 primary schools with opportunity classes across NSW.
See a list of NSW primary schools with opportunity classes.
Parents of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are encouraged to consider applying for selective and opportunity class placement. For further information and support parents can speak with their principal or contact their local Aboriginal Education and Wellbeing Advisor.
Online applications for Year 5 placement in an opportunity class in 2024 open on Thursday 30 March 2023 and close on Monday 15 May 2023.
Read Information for Applicants for information about the process and important dates.
The Opportunity Class Placement Test will be conducted on Thursday 27 July 2023.

President’s Message
Hi All
A belated thank you to all of the families who attended the welcome back BBQ in Week 1, it was great to see many new faces! It would not have been possible by the all volunteers, lead by Liz F. A special thanks to the Pennant Hills Demons AFL club who provided the entertainment for the kids in between sausages.
The Cross Country day is always fun, albeit slightly cold this year. Thanks to Heather and the canteen volunteers for running the sausage sizzle again.
Mothers Day is coming up this weekend, with the school stall organised again by Ali P so the kids can purchase a small gift for their mums. Happy Mothers Day for this Sunday, and thanks to Ali and the volunteers for making the stall possible.
Have a great week.
Luke Whenman
P&C President

Winter Uniforms
We have finally received a delivery of Winter Tunics, Long Sleeve Shirts and Boys Trousers. As we make our way through all the backorders for these items, we hope to fulfill everyone’s orders in this week’s delivery run. We are still awaiting the shipment of some Polar Fleece sizes. Orders for items shown as “ON BACKORDER” are for items which are currently out-of-stock. You can still place an order as these items will be placed on backorder, and will be distributed to your child’s classroom as soon as stock arrives.
Appointments (Thursdays - limited availability)
Due to the transitional period, we have limited availability for in-person appointments at the Uniform Shop.
- Please click or scan the QR Code below to make an appointment, you will be redirected to our square booking site.
- Pease select the appropriate appointment type for your visit:
- Standard appointment times are in individual 5-minute increments. (Choose this for returns, exchange is sizes and simple purchases).
- Double appointment times are in individual 10-minute increments. (Choose this for larger orders, second-hand purchases, new enrolments).
- Appointments are at the uniform shop located on the 3-6 campus.
Flexischools Ordering
- Currently, all uniform orders will need to be placed by 5pm on Sundays prior to the Thursday delivery date.
- Orders will be delivered on Thursdays to your child’s classroom.
- Back To School Vouchers need to be applied on the same order when selecting your items. Please see additional details under “BACK TO SCHOOL VOUCHERS” below.
- Cancelled Orders – you can cancel your order through the Flexischools App up until a certain time. However, if the order has been processed by Flexischools, you will need to e-mail the Uniform Shop to request the cancellation. If the order is cancelled prior to Delivery Date, Flexischools will return the funds to your original payment method. If an order is cancelled after the delivery date, we will then request a refund to Flexischools and the funds will be credited back into your Flexischools account. You will need to speak directly with Flexischools if you wish to withdraw the funds to different account, the Uniform Shop cannot request this on your behalf.
Back to School Vouchers
The Uniform Shop is still accepting back to school vouchers. The vouchers can be used to purchase NEW uniform items and accessories and cannot be used for the purchase of preloved/second hand items.
To use the vouchers on Flexischools the Vouchers need to be applied to the same order as your items, simply include the voucher numbers when selecting the Back to School Vouchers item on your order. Please do not make Flexischools orders which only contain vouchers, they will not be processed by Flexischools as credit to your Flexischools accounts and we cannot hold credit on uniform shop customer accounts.
Applying the vouchers to your Flexischools order will not automatically deduct from the payment amount at checkout.
You will have to pay the full amount of your order at time of purchase.
A refund to your Flexischools account will be requested once your voucher is redeemed by the Uniform Shop on the day we process the order. You should then see the amount credited into your Flexischools account once it is approved and processed by Flexischools. Please allow some time for the refunds to be processed.
Please remember, if your order is less than the voucher amount, the remaining amount of your voucher is forfeited and cannot be used. The uniform shop is not able to hold the remaining value of the vouchers as credit for future orders.
Second-Hand / Preloved Items
Preloved Items are items in very good condition and will continue to be available online via Flexischools. These items will only be available via online sales.
We also have some other second-hand items in store which you can make an appointment to purchase from the store, by selecting a double (10 minute appointment).
Please note our general policy of these purchases are final and cannot be returned or swapped for other second-hand items in the store. We encourage you to please choose your items carefully.
