Hello to the Pennant Hills community! Yesterday I started in my role as principal of Pennant Hills Public School. I have very much enjoyed the beginnings of getting to know students, staff and parents. Everyone I have spoken to has been extremely welcoming. I look forward to meeting more school community members during these last few weeks of the school term. Please say hello if you see me out and about in the school grounds.
My last day at Wahroonga Public School was last Friday and although it was hard saying goodbye, I am delighted to start building positive connections and working collaboratively with all stakeholders at Pennant Hills Public School.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to Mrs Wasson for the wonderful job she did relieving as Principal and leading the school and community during the last few months. Although I have only just started getting to know staff at Pennant Hills, I feel that the school is extremely fortunate to have such a hardworking, dedicated and caring group of people guiding and nurturing our wonderful students.
Warm Regards,
Alison Filipic
Principal
A MESSAGE FROM DEPUTY PRINCIPAL
Welcome Mrs Filipic!
Our new Principal began on Monday and we are so pleased to welcome Mrs Filipic to our whole school community. Mrs Filipic has spent time getting to know the students and staff on both sites before school, during recess and lunch and popping into classrooms. Well done everyone on being so welcoming!
Thank you to the entire school community for your support over the last 16 weeks while I relieved as Principal. I always new Pennant Hills Public School was a special place, but I felt it most recently, more than ever, with constant support and words of encouragement. I feel very grateful to be here, stepping back to my substantive role as Deputy Principal and I look forward to working with Mrs Filipic and you all to continue pursuing the very best for our school.
Year 6 Mini Fete
Preparation for the Year 6 Mini Fete is well underway! Our Year 6 students are busily creating their stalls and advertising to pique the interest of all of our students. It may look like a mess, but it is organised chaos! The Year 6 Mini Fete will occur on Friday 8th December on the 3-6 site. Please ensure that your child has paid for their tokens in order for them to fully participate in the fete.

Reports
Our teachers are in the thick of writing academic reports for their students. Our reports this semester will be accessed through the Schoolbytes platform that most of our community access to make payments already. Our new format includes future goals for each Key Learning Area (English, Mathematics, Science and Technology, History and Geography, Personal Development/Health/Physical Education and Creative and Performing Arts). There will be ‘stems’ or outcomes for each learning area and a grade of either ‘working towards’ or ‘achieving’ as well as an overall grade within the A-E scale (years 1-6) and an Effort grade.
I look forward to reading your feedback on our new reports after they have been published on the Schoolbytes platform on Monday 11th December.
Kind Regards,
Kate Wasson
Deputy Principal

Uniform Shop Manager
There is a Google Spreadsheet roster so you can put your name down for a slot.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1auvhrHQ4A3LiBfOmOvJBkvP9kYMjm60w1Fb8N_Qt3ow/edit?usp=sharing
Fill in your childs name and band in brackets. eg. Peter T (ICB) & Darren F (ICB)
(Please do not edit anyone else's time slot entry)
Each slot can have a maximum of 3 students playing at once. So your child can play on their own as a soloist, or organise their own little duo or trio so they can play with their friends. Each time slot is for 10 minutes. Which should be enough for 3-5 songs depending on their length.
With 10 minute allotments we'll have enough for 12 little groups on the day.
Only 2 spots left to fill, please get them filled in ASAP.
- ICB - 1 parent for week 9
- SCB - 1 parent for Thursday week 9.
What To Be Practising
There might be some new music coming for Christmas or the End of Year Concert. So make sure your child is practising whatever the conductors are giving them.
- SCB: Christmas Swings (main focus), African Bell Carol, 20 Carols in 2 Minutes. For celebration of learning they will also play Brass in the Basement along with the school song and national anthem.
- ICB: The Simpsons, Rock The Halls, December Triptych
- Training Band: Jingle Bones, Oh Christmas Tree, Silent Night
If you haven't already, please use this form to take the opportunity to provide any feedback you have regarding the 2023 band tutors as well as general feedback regarding the band program.
