3-6 Ball Games Carnival
Our 3-6 students had a wonderful day of Ball Games last Wednesday, where the traditional games of captain ball, tunnel ball and over and under were played. All students were involved and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Thank you to Ms Nelson and Mrs Cumming for all of their organisation.

Year 2 Swim School
Our Year 2 students have been attending intensive swimming lessons over the last two weeks and their skills are improving dramatically! In Australia, on average there are 10 child deaths from drowning each year – as a water-loving nation it is imperative that our children have the basic skills to survive in water. Thank you to our Year 2 families for supporting this initiative and to our Year 2 teachers for attending with the students – they are having a blast!

2024 Kindergarten
Parent Information Evening - We look forward to welcoming our upcoming families of Kindergarten students for 2024 to our Information evening tonight at 7pm. This is always such an exciting time for our pre-Kindy families, please come with any questions you may have.
Kindy Orientation Sessions - The first of our Kindergarten Orientation Sessions will begin next week, Tuesday 24 October and continue every Tuesday for 4 weeks. The teachers are really excited to get to know the upcoming Kindergarten students and their families.
Interest Groups
Starting on Wednesday, our students in 3-6 will begin their first Interest Group session, which will continue fortnightly for 4 sessions. Our K-2 students will be doing the same, on the alternate week. As part of our High Potential and Gifted Education training and through analysis of our Tell Them From Me Survey data, we are trialling the Interest Groups this term to ascertain if student engagement is affected in other areas of schooling by the implementation of choice-based structured sessions. Students were able to select from a variety of groups, as an example; preschool visits for leadership capacity building, clay sculpting, debating, netball skills, electronics, drama, board games, iMovie maker creations, watercolour painting, mini masterchef and gardening just to name a few! We look forward to this trial and sharing the results with you.
Kind Regards

Mrs McLaren
Stage 3 Relieving Assistant Principal
Teddy was soooo ecstatic-ly happy to return to school after the holidays - he loves seeing all the students!
While Teddy’s regular schedule is to visit 3-6 on Tuesdays and K-2 on Wednesdays, he made a surprise appearance to school last Friday.
He quiet-ly sat in with the 1Quokkas and did a literacy lesson with the students and Mrs Mortimer - all about adverbs.
He learnt that to make an adverb, he needs to add the suffix- ly- to the end of a verb. He learnt examples like: quick-ly and excited-ly and careful-ly and many, many others.
Teddy told me later that he strong-ly believes he should be allowed allll the treats, allll of the day..!
Teddy also listened to Heidi R and Maya H read him a story. He loves stories!

Please fill in our Expression of Interest form. More information will be available at the Intro to Music night mentioned above.
Percussionists are the glue who keep the band together. Most students in year 3 will be physically able to play percussion, however to be a percussionist you need to have a very good sense of rhythm, and coordination (getting 2 hands and 2 feet all doing different things at different times can be challenging). The percussionists will need to play a range of instruments. But the primary ones are the drum kit, the glockenspiel or xylophone, and the timpanis.
If selected to be a percussionist the band program will purchase for your child a percussion kit which includes a glock, sticks and a few other bits and pieces needed. This kit is around $420 and is provided on a hire-to-buy basis, and paid off by the term, over 2 years.
