A busy final week of term!
Tomorrow, I look forward to the first Performance Assembly of the year. Thank you to Senior Concert Band, Weemala Choir and Stage 2 Dance Group for performing on this occasion. Thank you also to the staff who support these groups in rehearsals and with supervision throughout the year.
We are holding a short ANZAC Service on Thursday at 11am under the COLA on the K-2 site. Parents and carers are welcome to attend. Thank you to Ms Catlin for her organisation of this ceremony and to our student leadership team for leading the school in this important assembly.
There is much excitement for our first Burumin Day of the year. The burumin boxes on both sites are full and both sites will have a special celebration and fun activities after lunch this Thursday! It is wonderful to see so many students earning awards and filling up the burumin boxes for displaying behaviour that is in line with our school values of Being Responsible, Being Respectful and Aspiring.
Happy Holidays!
I hope that all families have a wonderful break over the next 2-week period when we are on school holidays. The last day of Term 1 is this Friday 12 April. Students return to school on Tuesday 30 April 2024.
Please note that there will be some grounds work occurring on both sites during the holiday period. The uneven pathways will be smoothed out with the aim of reducing potential trip hazards, the air conditioners will be serviced, and general building checks will occur.
I would like to thank our whole community for a fantastic Term 1! It is wonderful that we have a community that work so beautifully together. Thank you to the hard-working and caring PHPS staff, I hope they all have a restful and relaxing break when it arrives. Thank you to our fabulous parent and wider community, we look forward to continuing to work with you in Term 2. Lastly, thank you to our PHPS amazing students…we are so fortunate to have such terrific students at our school!
Staff return to work on Monday 29 April and will be engaging in professional learning on the new English and Mathematics syllabus documents. I look forward to seeing the smiling faces of our students when they return for the start of Term 2 on Tuesday 30 April.
Warm Regards

Stage Planning Days
You may have noticed your child’s teacher was not on class during a day over the past 2 weeks. As a school, we choose to fund our teachers with planning days where they can work collaboratively as a stage to plan, program, revise and adapt the teaching and learning that takes place across our school. The feedback we have from our teaching staff is that these days are invaluable. When teachers are confident with what they are doing, this translates into the classroom and all of our students benefit.
K-2 Social Skills Program
We have re-instated our K-2 Social Skills Program thanks to Mrs Donoghue and Mrs Holdway. This program runs at lunch times with a focus on developing student skills in certain games that they could then initiate and play with their friends, independent of an adult. Turn-taking, listening and sharing are the main focus for this social group time.

The stall will take place on Thursday 9th May 2024. Each class will have the opportunity to visit the stall at a nominated time throughout the morning.

Our Drama unit this term is called “Puppets and Play”. Students in years 1-6 are learning about different types of puppets and basic techniques in puppetry.
This week, all students in years 1 – 6 are asked to bring in a small soft toy (not a puppet) to use during their Drama lesson this week.
During the holidays, it would be fantastic if students could make their own glove or sock puppet and bring it in. After the holidays, students can bring in their homemade puppet or a glove puppet is they have one.
So, this week, remember to bring in a small soft toy.

! PARENT HELPER RESPONISIBILITIES It is a school requirement that there is a parent helper for all rehearsals. In the event we have no parent helper, we will have no choice but to cancel the rehearsal. We realise everyone is busy and have commitments (work or otherwise), however with planning in advance – if everyone pitches in then each family will only be required to help out less than once per term. If you have availability to help on a particular afternoon – and there is already a parent helper in the roster, please contact that parent and request to swap.
