Thank you, Mirvac!
A group of volunteers from Mirvac spent the day last Thursday beautifying our school grounds. They donated the mulch, a skip bin and of course their time to make the 3-6 site look amazing! We are very appreciative of their efforts…thank you! Prior to Mirvac coming onsite the P&C led some school volunteers to weed the area in readiness… thank you to these volunteers that were led by Kate Ashton and Chris Laing.

Happy Easter break!
Today Mrs McLaren and I had the pleasure of accompanying the Senior Concert Band to the Easter Show. They performed exceptionally well and represented PHPS with pride. Congratulations to our talented students! Thank you to our Band Covener, Mike Stalenberg and conductor Dave Odams.
I hope that all families enjoy the Easter long weekend. Please note that I am offsite at a Principal’s conference tomorrow and Thursday. I look forward to seeing students and families next week.
Warm Regards

Harmony Day
Last week was Harmony Week, which is a celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. We celebrated Harmony Day on Thursday and we all wore a touch of orange.

6M
6M have been learning about animal adaptations in Science. This week they experimented with adapting bird beaks to try to design the most effective beak for a bird to collect seed. What fun!

NAPLAN
Our students in Years 3 and 5 have now officially completed their NAPLAN assessments. Normally we receive the results from these assessments in Term 3. The results are mainly used to discuss growth amongst the cohort, areas for improvement and areas in which we as a school are performing well. When the results are released we will share what we can with the community.
Well done to all of our students for remaining calm and giving it your best shot!

Inspirational Harmony Day Artwork
Emma K (3/4R) was inspired by the message of Harmony Day – Everyone Belongs.
In response she composed the following thought-provoking artwork.
Using soft lines with contrasting tone and colour, Emma captures the importance of celebrating Harmony Day with her work titled:
“Spreading Harmony and Kindness: Ensuring Everyone Feels they Belong.”
Well done, Emma!

Gardens and Grounds
If you’ve walked past the Ramsay/Weemala school garden in the past few days you will have noticed a transformation! PHPS volunteers weeded and cleared two weekends ago then last week, the volunteer group from Mirvac came through and layered cardboard and mulch over the cleared area to keep the weeds at bay.
A huge thank you to all the volunteers involved. We had both old and new faces from PHPS including some ex-students! Sabrina, Francesca, Elsie & Abbie returned from their year 7 adventures to help their primary alma mater. Thanks also to Henri, Laurie & Natalie, Melina, Sherry, Sally, Nicole, Zoe & Skye, neighbour Dan and Tom.
An especially BIG thanks to Elly C who spent weeks organising the Mirvac element of project…made more difficult by the recent Sydney “mulch-gate” affair. She made sure mulch was clean and delivered, skip bin ordered and the troops were fed. Thanks to Tom and Chris who site-managed on the day. Also to our wonderful GA Mark for his help.
Gratitude to our Principal Alison for her support and encouragement. As the saying goes, “it's teamwork that makes the dream work”.
